Why does Aslan include a Prop 65 warning?
California's Proposition 65 requires the state to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires businesses to warn people in California before exposing them to a listed chemical. Electronic assemblies such as circuit boards, connectors, cables and motors can contain listed chemicals, for example in solder, wire insulation and metal alloys.
I bought outside California. Why do I see the Prop 65 warning?
Aslan sells across the United States. To keep sales into California compliant, we include the warning for every product rather than only for orders shipped to California.
Are Aslan products safe to use?
A Prop 65 warning means a product may expose you to a listed chemical. It does not mean the product is unsafe or breaks any product-safety standard. Use Aslan products as described in their datasheets and manuals.
Doesn't California need evidence of harm to humans before listing a chemical?
No. A chemical can be listed based on studies in people or animals, or other scientific data. California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) explains how chemicals are added to the list.
What is the risk of cancer or reproductive harm from these products?
A chemical being on the list doesn't necessarily mean a product containing it poses a significant risk. OEHHA answers common questions in its Prop 65 FAQs.
